With many of us bombarded with marketing messages on social media and TV everyday, it can be easy to think that nobody bothers to check their emails anymore. Think again. Email is still one of the best ways to reach your audience, here's why:
1. Less distractions
Unlike social media, where you can refresh your feed every 10 seconds, when you send an email, you have the chance to invite your customer into your world for 10 seconds.
2. A personal touch
One of the thing that customers value the most is being made to feel special. Like a one to one in real life, your newsletter is your chance to do a digital one to one with your customers. Make it personal.
3. Make purchasing easy
An email lands in your inbox with a discount code, and a link to buy, what's stopping you? An email makes it easy for customers to buy again, so it's easier to convert.
4. Brand exposure
You may send to your customer base, but they can share emails and news from your newsletter. If they like what they see, you are opening yourself up to further brand exposure.
5. Build loyalty
Offering discounts, news and announcements only to your newsletter subscribers adds exclusivity and creates a network of loyalty. They start to look out for your newsletter because they know it's worth it. Deliver value and you will attract loyalty.
Ready to get started? Make sure you get permission before emailing your list. The General Data Protection Regulation, which comes into force from 25th May 2018, means all businesses must get permission from contacts before sending marketing emails.
You can do this by asking your contacts to fill in a form which states they are happy to be subscribed to your mailing list. This applies to those on your existing mailing list too.
Tools such as MailChimp or Campaign Monitor let you create and manage your email marketing lists, and put together newsletters.
