Take a moment to look at the content you're putting out there on social media and follow our 5 tips to make your posts even better!
Planning content for social media can be one of those jobs that always ends up at the bottom of your to do list or you end up putting out posts when you remember to rather than sticking to any particular plan. Here's how you can improve the content you're putting out there.
1. Have a structure
Note this doesn't have to be a full blown plan, just a simple spreadsheet or list will do. Earmark how often you want to post then think of some themes to help you focus your content. For example, maybe you want to post 3 times a week based on the size of your audience. You might do a product focus on a Tuesday, a quote on Thursday and a video on Saturday. Having themes or regular features makes it easier to create relevant content.
2. Stay on brand
You might see a pretty-looking quote on Pinterest but before you copy it onto your Instagram page, think about how it fits with your brand. It's worth using a tool like Canva to create templates for quotes that reflect your brand colours. This helps create a professional look for your business and leaves a lasting impression with your audience.
3. Don't follow the crowd
What makes or breaks your posts is the content. What are you telling people? How are you getting your business story across? This is the bit that a lot of people struggle with because it can feel scary putting yourself out there. But it's also the bit that will attract the right sort of client or customer. Why? Because it's about you and it's authentic. Suddenly a product post isn't just a product, it's something you trust and like and therefore the way you talk about it attracts those who also feel that way.
4. Show your face
It might just be you running your business so show people who they're dealing with. People buy from people and we can almost guarantee you will get high engagement on any photo with your mugshot in!
5. Support others
Having a network around you to support and share your content is important but remember to share content from people who inspire you too! It could be a podcast you like, a book you've read or an event you went to. Talk about what you like about it and let people build up a picture of who you are and what is important to you. We rise by lifting others!
