Our planet is our responsibility.
Here's what I do as a business owner and as an individual to reduce my carbon footprint.
As a business owner:
I use recycled card for business cards and ones which are sent wrapped in paper rather than plastic boxes (Banana Print are good for this!)
I use Google Hangouts and Skype for client meetings meaning less travel and saving on fuel costs.
I work from home, which means no commute and no need to use my car to get to work.
Largely paperless business, using cloud software to manage filing.
I plan meetings on certain days and times so I'm not having to duplicate journeys.
I use my bright pink reusable coffee mug for hot drinks on the go.
I work from a laptop which uses less energy than a desktop computer.
If I'm using notepads, I make sure they are made from recycled paper.
As an individual:
I walk wherever possible.
I support brands which are also doing their bit for the environment, such as Faith in Nature and Ecover.
I grow bee and butterfly friendly plants in my garden.
I compost food instead of throwing away.
I plan meals so I don't tend to have any food waste.
I use green energy suppliers for my home energy.
I buy second hand clothes.
I don't tend to eat a lot of meat and buy British produce wherever possible.
I always take reusable bags for shopping.
I recycle everything I can.
I try to take the train or bus instead of the car.
I take holidays in the UK more often than going abroad and tend to travel by train rather than air.
